2016 Honda Jazz Black Edition

Video Road Report

We video test the 2016 Honda Jazz Black edition – “the Jazz makes for a fantastic city car with equally impressive open road abilities”.

The latest incarnation of the Honda Jazz has impressed people since it was launched back in 2014 and it continues to do so. With its combination of great looks, high standard specification and extremely clever packaging, the Jazz makes for a fantastic city car with equally impressive open road abilities.

Available in a wide range of model variants, the Jazz also now gets a dose of cosmetic personalisation in the form of the “Black Edition” package that can be added to any model in the range.

The Black Edition adds tinted windows, black wing mirrors, black alloy wheels and Black Edition badging, while the RS model we look at in our latest video also gets the black treatment on its rear wing.

The Jazz RS comes standard with a long list of equipment, including 16-inch alloy wheels, satellite navigation, sports fabric upholstery, idle stop-start, City Brake Assist, a choice of three different touch screen audio head units, all of which offer a reversing camera, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, and USB inputs, while the top end Pioneer Premium unit also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Jazz RS packs Honda’s 97kW/155Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine hooked up to a continuously variable transmission that can also be used in manual mode via the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

One big feature that has been with the Jazz since the beginning is Honda’s brilliant “magic seat” system that presents a completely flat load space in the rear when folded down. It can be arranged in 18 different configurations and is simple, brilliant and incredibly practical.

On the safety from, the Jazz is equally well equipped, with six airbags, two ISOFIX child seat mounts, emergency stop signal hazard light activation and a 5 star EuroNCAP safety rating.
