2023 Renault Trafic

Video Road Report

We video review the 2023 Renault Trafic.

The 3rd incarnation of the Renault Trafic – facelifted and revised for a new generation of light commercial van user – demonstrates the brand’s high level of expertise when it comes to LCV development.

Available in two body lengths and a crew-cab configuration, the Renault Trafic is well suited to either inner city or trans city delivery work, boasting cargo areas of either 5.8m3 and 1224kg payload in medium or 6.7m3 and 1243kg payload in this, the long body configuration.

A front wheel drive regardless of body length, the Renault Trafic is powered by a new highly efficient, 2-litre turbo diesel with its 125kW and 380Nm of torque mated to a slick six-speed auto for effortless inner city or open road driving and a staggeringly low 7.5 litres per 100km fuel consumption reading.

The third generation Trafic is sleek in its exterior design and safe, rating a Silver safety award from EuroNCAP, thanks to its reversing camera, front, rear and side parking sensors, active emergency braking, lane departure and blind spot warning systems among other active safety features. Upgrades to its connectivity gives Apple CarPlay and android Auto connectivity as well as Bluetooth and voice activation to help with on-the-road communication.

The Trafic does exhibit car-like qualities when it comes to ergonomics and driveability and yet, it is still very much a working vehicle with its loading and carrying abilities and in-built workstation integrated into the rear of the centre seat. It is however, on the road where the Trafic really shines. It’s ‘wheels-at-the-corners’ chassis design allows for flat cornering and exemplary road handling, enhanced for building sites and berms with Renault’s Grip X-Tend soft surface traction system.

All of this combines to deliver a brilliant follow-on today from a van which impressed us when we first encountered it back in 2018. With more style, more safety, more bang for your buck, remember, it’s the Renault Trafic.
