2023 Skoda Enyaq

Video Road Report

We video review the 2023 Skoda Enyaq iV Sportline Max 80.

There’s a big buzz going on in Skoda’s world – and the all-new, all-electric Skoda Enyaq is just the start of it. The Enyaq is Skoda’s stepping-stone into the Premium market segment, a logical follow on – and continuation of – the brand’s current positioning in both entry and mainstream segments.

Taking its name from the Gaelic word Enya, meaning source of life, the Enyaq writes a new chapter in Skoda’s 125-year history. Skoda’s latest comes to us – and New Zealand is the first market outside of Europe to have access to the Enyaq— with new design cues, new technologies and Skoda’s extensive range of safety features, which all contribute to Enyaq’s 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

A rear-wheel-drive SUV, Enyaq carries its electric motor in the front with the 80kWh battery being charged from the rear. The Enyaq has a manufacturer stated range of up to 532kms using anywhere between 16.2 and 17.4kWh per 100km. Charge times ranging from 42 hours on a home wall socket to just 28 mins (from 0 to 80% charge) on a 135kW DC Rapid Charger.

The Enyaq is quite unlike its stablemates in terms of its design. Its shape is purposeful and infuses masculinity with sophistication with a strong and powerful nose tapering to a shapely rear. Chiselled sculpted character lines deliver a cohesive geometric and cutting-edge design, amplified by the crystal lens grille and crafted LED lights front and rear, while the excellence of the materials used in the cabin, combined with state-of-the-art technology, further underscore the superior quality inherent in the Enyaq’s design.

Enyaq is a full, five-seater SUV with cavernous inner-space as a key characteristic, which the Premium vehicle market segment is so used to seeing. It has luggage space of between 585 litres and 1710 litres with the seats down, and an electric tailgate to allow easy access to it.

The Enyaq showcases a distinctive external appearance, while the design and layout of the interior – dominated by a 13-inch colour touchscreen – is unique to Skoda’s 150kW, all-electric, premium SUV.
