Auto Transform – fit-outs to make your vans move smarter

Vehicle Fitout

“Is there a difference between a modular van fit out and a bespoke one?’’
If you are a fleet manager and that question is somewhere in the back of your mind, then you are doing your job, looking out for the best interests of your company by ensuring the efficiency of your fleet.

And furthermore, if you are looking for someone to answer your question, the Auto Transform team will be more than happy to do so.

Speaking to sales director Joshua Stanners of Auto Transform, the distinction between modular versus bespoke fit-out is not as profound as some might have thought.

“Auto Transform can produce bespoke vehicle fit-outs using modular components, something many fleet customers need to know.”

A good number of Auto Transform customers already have a good idea of what their vehicles need in terms of fit-out, especially in the areas of mobility vehicles and utes, which make up the bulk of all auto transformations.

“Vans give a little less flexibility because of their closed in body construction. This makes the fit-out challenging and comes down to expertise and design to ensure that functionality and safety objectives are achieved to maximise the potential of the van.”

Many fleet managers specify their vehicles be fitted out with a variety of standard features which – with over 30 years’ experience in the industry and well-researched products known to suit New Zealand user requirements and quality expectations – are Auto Transform’s stock in trade.

“However,” Joshua adds, “there is nothing to say the way those items are fitted can’t be positioned in the best possible location from the end user’s perspective.”

While in the past, a fleet manager might specify exactly where fit-out items should be positioned, the fleet manager of today is more open to receiving feedback from the vehicle drivers and additionally take on input from Auto Transform itself.

The formula Auto Transform works to when it comes to van fit-out is a simple one: the aim is to have the 20 percent of everything the end user might need for 80 percent of their time within easy reach, which maximises efficiency – a key consideration given the nature of service industries today.

In addition to saving five minutes here and two minutes there looking for specific tools, a good fit-out also allows easy checking to ensure consumable items are on-board before the vehicle goes out on the job.

A less tangible, but valid rationale for a professionally thought out and delivered fit-out, is workspace pride; if the tools-of-the-trade are presented well, the chances that they will be cared for properly are very high. This ultimately can lead to your customers re-engaging your services.

The takeaway from all of this – if you have vans in your fleet, instead of utes, another area of expertise of Auto Transform – is consultation.

Auto Transform evaluates new products all the time, so fit-out solutions which have worked in the past can be improved on for the fleets of today and tomorrow.
