DuraTrac has landed!

Vehicle Fitout

Whether working on a high-country building block or heading out for a weekend’s fishing, Goodyear’s new Wrangler DuraTrac 4WD tyre will get you there safely.
Recently launched in New Zealand, Wrangler DuraTrac is an extremely versatile tyre designed for work and play.

Goodyear NZ head of technical, product and aviation Bill Prebble says DuraTrac is engineered to provide high levels of traction and stability, both on and off the road.
“The Wrangler DuraTrac is designed for a wide range of applications, from farming and construction, to camping and caravanning,” said Bill.

DuraTrac is also Goodyear’s first tyre to feature its proprietary Tractive Groove Technology, enhancing performance in deep mud and sand.

Other features include a rugged tread rubber, highly angled centre tread blocks and zig-zag microgrooves. This increases resistance to tearing, gives them better lateral stability and improves wet traction.

4WD expert Pete Ritchie – an off-road driving instructor and consultant – road and bush-tested a set of Wrangler DuraTrac tyres over 18,000km on a Toyota Hilux, across a broad variety of New Zealand terrain.

He described them as ideally suited for a range of backcountry conditions, with negligible noise on dry roads and “no wet road sounds beyond normal”.

“I ran them at 26-28psi on 18-inch rims. They were good on the road with a heavy load and a trailer in tow,” he said. “They tracked very well on corners and there was no side wallowing in windy conditions.

“I’ve seen no sign of tread chipping from gravel, nor have I experienced any flat tyres, or any sign of tread area penetration from small chips etc. They simply seem to get the job done and keep me safe in all situations.”

Mr Ritchie also tested the Wrangler DuraTrac tyres in an off-road event after a week of heavy rain.

“The DuraTracs were able to handle our clay test climb in conditions some other tyre brands and types could not manage nearly as well,” he reported.

The range carries the European Commission Noise symbol, after passing stringent European standards for by-pass noise.
