KGM explores TORRES Hybrid for New Zealand customers

News

South Korean-born and future-focused, KGM could soon add a new model to its New Zealand lineup: the TORRES Hybrid.

On display this week at Fieldays in Hamilton, the European market preview TORRES Hybrid model is giving New Zealanders a first look as KGM gauges local interest and feedback. Based on customer response, the hybrid could join the TORRES lineup here in New Zealand.

“This is a great opportunity to introduce hybrid into the TORRES family and show where KGM is heading,” says Kym Mellow, General Manager, Inchcape New Zealand.

“We’re looking to grow our powertrain options, and hybrid is a key part of KGM’s global shift toward electrified mobility. Fieldays provides an ideal platform to assess local interest.”

Fieldays visitors can get up close with the TORRES Hybrid’s sleek design and see how it fits alongside the existing petrol and fully electric TORRES EVX models in the medium SUV segment.

While New Zealand specifications are yet to be confirmed, the TORRES Hybrid is expected to pair a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor in a dedicated hybrid transmission, along with multiple regenerative braking modes and enhanced cabin quietness.
