Leaseplan's start Electric Drive Day

Fleet Management

LeasePlan New Zealand hosted a local fleet industry first in September – an electric vehicle drive day at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in northern Waikato.

Held exclusively for LeasePlan customers, the event allowed key business fleet buyers to get hands on driving experiences with this new auto tech and plan for the increased adoption of EVs in their organisations.

LeasePlan has a bold, global commitment to a shape the future of low emission mobility and it has adopted a ‘Start Electric’ approach – to educate, advocate and facilitate the adoption of EVs.

New Zealand businesses are at very different stages of their EV journey. Some are just starting to learn. Some have trials underway and other are well progressed with the adoption of EVs and hybrids.

This event provided value for all – with the largest ever assembly of plug-in hybrid and full electric vehicles for a New Zealand audience.

For some guests, it was the first time driving an electric vehicle and they expressed surprise at the performance and handling.  For others, it was an opportunity to experience and compare newer models and understand the advances in technology, especially regarding batteries. Range anxiety is becoming less of a concern as battery technology and performance improves.

LeasePlan was generously supported with the provision of vehicles and product experts from many of its manufacturer partners – Audi, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Renault, Toyota, Tesla and VW.

The recent passing of the Zero Carbon Bill sharpens the focus of NZ businesses reducing emissions. EVs can play a key role, especially as they become more reliable and more affordable.

The EV revolution in New Zealand has only just begun, and LeasePlan is taking a leading role.

More and more businesses are turning to LeasePlan for support in the adoption of EVs. They can help your business too.
