Meridian Energy add power to Smartrak’s EV Solutions Collaboration

News

Smartrak has announced that the newest member of its EV Enablement Initiative is Meridian Energy. Meridian joins a Special Interest Group (SIG) alongside esteemed members Griffith University and Aurecon. The establishment of this SIG will see the development of industry-leading software by Smartrak, focused on facilitating the seamless integration, operation, and management of electric vehicles within fleets.

“A longstanding Smartrak customer, Meridian has achieved significant carbon emission reductions leveraging our solutions. We are thrilled to welcome Meridian to our EV Enablement Initiative where they will share their invaluable insights.” Says Dr Sharlene Smith, Smartrak Business Manager – Sustainability Initiatives.

Meridian Energy is a true trailblazer in New Zealand’s EV transition, demonstrating an exceptional commitment to sustainability. They have successfully transitioned their entire light passenger fleet to 100 percent fully electric well ahead of their initial target of 2030, achieving this remarkable feat a staggering nine years earlier. By utilising Smartrak’s state-of-the-art telematics and booking solutions, Meridian has not only reduced fleet size but also minimized capital expenditures and operating costs.

In addition to their fleet efforts, they actively contribute to the EV ecosystem by providing home and business charging solutions, as well as operating “Zero,” a public network of chargers spread across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Looking to the future, the collaboration between Smartrak and their SIG members has been focused on designing a future-proof solution to address evolving priorities and challenges. By leveraging their collective expertise, insights, and shared pain points, they are paving the way for the development of industry-leading EV enablement software. The aim is to simplify the management of EV fleets, making it as straightforward as managing traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) fleets.

Smartrak’s comprehensive suite of features simplifies EV management for their customers. This includes providing remote battery data directly from the vehicle, enabling priority charging notifications based on upcoming bookings. With direct access to vehicle data, there is no need for expensive smart chargers to determine charging status, resulting in significant time savings and simplified multi-site management. Smartrak also offers enhanced EV and sustainability reporting, as well as an improved EV booking experience for end-users, ensuring that customers can effectively meet their sustainability goals.

Moreover, Smartrak’s integrated booking system, PoolCar, now offers real-time visibility into EV range and emissions impact at the time of booking. It even provides vehicle recommendations based on specific CO2 emissions and intended trip length.

This collaborative product development approach highlights Smartrak’s dedication to working closely with its customers. By creating industry-led solutions that address the challenges of EV adoption and integration within fleets, they empower their customers to successfully navigate this transition.

Smartrak is a frontrunner in advanced EV fleet management and Sustainable Transportation solutions, and is committed to facilitating EV enablement, streamlining fleet management, and addressing administration throughout Australia and New Zealand. Their expertise has made them the preferred choice for government agencies, councils, healthcare, and utility organisations.

By enhancing fleet visibility, optimising utilisation, right-sizing fleets, and effectively managing electrified vehicles, Smartrak is actively assisting these organisations in their transition towards Net Zero emissions.
