BMW New Zealand has confirmed pricing and specification for the all-new fifth-generation BMW X5 ahead of its market arrival in Q1 2027. Two electrified variants will be available from launch: the fully electric BMW iX5 60 xDrive, priced from $182,900, and the plug-in hybrid X5 50e xDrive, priced from $174,900.
Since creating the Sports Activity Vehicle segment in 1999, the BMW X5 has become one of the brand’s most successful models. More than 3.1 million have been sold worldwide, including over 7,000 in New Zealand.
The new generation advances with Neue Klasse-inspired design, BMW’s latest digital technologies and a choice of diesel, fully-electric and plug-in-hybrid powertrains, while retaining the comfort, versatility and driving character that have defined the X5 for more than 25 years.
The fifth-generation X5 translates BMW’s Neue Klasse design language into the proportions and presence that have long defined the model. A bolder, more monolithic exterior is led by an upright front end, vertically aligned BMW kidney grille and distinctive double-X light signatures, while muscular wheel arches and precisely sculpted surfaces retain the unmistakable character of an X5. New adaptive LED headlights reinforce the vehicle's road presence, while available illuminated grille
detailing further accentuates its bold character.
Inside, the new BMW X5 offers a refined, modern cabin with a spacious wraparound design. Premium materials including optional glass accents and, for the first time, natural slate surfaces create a sophisticated ambience. New X-pattern stitching redesigned steering wheels and enhanced ambient lighting elevate both craftsmanship and comfort.
