NZ Police and Škoda NZ Extend Successful Fleet Partnership

News

Škoda New Zealand is proud to announce the extension of its fleet partnership with the New Zealand Police, continuing a successful collaboration that began four years ago. This renewed agreement marks a significant milestone in our shared commitment to delivering fit-for-purpose vehicles that support the vital work of police officers across the country.

Since the partnership began, Škoda New Zealand and Škoda Auto have worked closely with Police to deliver vehicles tailored to the demands of frontline policing. The Škoda Superb Prime 1 patrol vehicles were selected following extensive technical evaluation, demonstrating strong safety performance, efficiency and compatibility with Police operational equipment. Based on Police fleet data, the transition from Holden Commodores to Škoda Superbs has contributed to approximately 20 per cent lower fuel consumption and associated CO₂ emissions for comparable frontline vehicles.

“We’re thrilled to continue working alongside the New Zealand Police,” said Alex Brown, Škoda New Zealand General Manager. “This partnership goes beyond supplying vehicles - it’s about supporting the people who serve our communities every day.”

A key element of this collaboration is the support from our factory partners at Škoda Auto, who work closely with us to build vehicles that meet New Zealand Police’s custom specifications. From operational refinements to vehicle integration and durability enhancements, these vehicles are designed to perform in the most demanding environments.

Škoda New Zealand also acknowledges the critical role of our nationwide dealer and service network, which ensures the fleet remains road-ready through expert servicing and ongoing support, and our Parts and Distribution Centre, which supplies components to the Police fleet, and who currently operate at a 98% first-pick rate - a testament to our commitment to efficiency and reliability.

Škoda New Zealand is proud to be part of the 100% New Zealand owned and operated Giltrap Group, representing over 18 of the world’s finest automotive brands. As part of the global Škoda Auto family -providing over 23,000 vehicles to police and emergency services worldwide - we remain committed to innovation, sustainability and public service.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to continuous improvement, ensuring the NZ Police have access to the best tools for the job.
