TDDA achieves New Zealand’s first IANZ Accreditation for Oral Fluid Collection, setting new standards for workplace safety.
The Drug Detection Agency (TDDA) has made history by becoming the first drug and alcohol testing and collection company in New Zealand to receive IANZ accreditation for oral fluid collection. This significant accreditation aligns with the Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4760:2019 and complements TDDA’s existing IANZ accreditation for urine testing.

This new accreditation underscores TDDA’s commitment to delivering comprehensive substance testing services while adhering to stringent health and safety practices. It demonstrates that TDDA’s processes meet rigorous standards regarding the collection, storage, handling, and dispatch of oral fluid samples, ensuring high reliability and accuracy in drug detection.

“TDDA is the largest provider of workplace drug and alcohol testing in New Zealand, conducting over 250,000 screenings annually. Achieving this IANZ accreditation means our clients can be confident in the integrity of our testing processes, allowing them to rely on the accurate information we provide,” said Glenn Dobson, CEO of TDDA.

Oral fluid testing, which analyses saliva for illegal drugs and prescription medications, has gained popularity for its ability to detect a wide range of substances with acceptable accuracy. A report from the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum highlighted that poor health and safety practices cost New Zealand $4.4 billion in 2022, with about 70 work-related fatalities annually – higher than rates seen in Australia and the United Kingdom.

“TDDA’s comprehensive substance testing solutions are designed for safety-sensitive industries, including transport, manufacturing, construction, civil works, forestry, and farming. Our services can detect substances such as amphetamines, methamphetamines, opioids, and cannabis,” Dobson noted.

In addition to oral fluid testing, TDDA offers a range of drug and alcohol testing services, including breathalyser technology, hair alcohol testing, and multi-panel substance tests. With nearly two decades of experience, TDDA continues to lead the industry in navigating workplace safety.

“In high-stakes industries where heavy machinery is common, businesses must stay vigilant. Managing health and safety is essential to daily operations, and we are here to ensure our clients can trust the accuracy of our services. The IANZ accreditation provides assurance that our drug testing processes are compliant and independently audited, enabling effective risk management and fostering a culture of safety,” concluded Dobson.
