And while the utes are riding high at present, the van market is chugging along… well; that’s not exactly fair.
The vans are where all the technology is happening right now, and it’s going to get even more intense in 2022.
In the first instance, many are anticipating a surge in van sales in answer to the commercial vehicle tax.
Yes, the vans are still subject to a price increase but, it may well be that the tax you pay on a ute is going to be higher than it would be on a van or that consumers work out that a van offers more as a commercial vehicle, in terms of carrying capacity, security and engine options.
And if you are going to be spending more, perhaps now is the best time to make sure you are getting bang for your buck?
This leads on to the second consideration. The tax has been put in place to cover the clean car scheme credits for alternatively powered vehicles and encouraging the private buyer to get into them.
So, buying an alternatively powered vehicle will see a few thousand dollars going into your bank account later as a ‘thank you for saving the polar bears.’
Now, you can’t get that if you buy a ute, because right now, there are no utes running on Duracells. But there are ‘leccy vans’, and what’s more, there’s going to be more of them by 2022 so maybe there’s something to buying vans after all?
As it stands (stood) in August, 5066 vans were registered year-to-date with automakers presenting more and more choices as time goes on.
In New Zealand, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to vans, which is why we have put together the listings on the following pages for your convenience and awareness.
Some readers may not realise just how many vans of various shapes, sizes and powertrains available to them. Right here, right now, you have all the suppliers and their vehicles in one place to assist you in making an informed decision.
