Toyota has launched the second generation Aurion in New Zealand. The 2012 model is available in three grades – AT-X, Touring and Sportivo SX6 – each with a 3.5-litre V6 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota New Zealand general manager of sales and operations, Steve Prangnell, said: “We’ve tailored our Aurion line-up to suit the New Zealand market. The Aurion AT-X is a great solution for fleet user choosers – it’s a great looking premium sedan with impressive features. The Touring model adds luxury trims and a sportier look, while the Sportivo SX6 goes all out to attract drivers looking for assertive styling and performance.”
“This second generation model makes a real statement and deserves its place as our flagship sedan. It offers customers premium specification, design and performance without the luxury vehicle price tag. Aurion has the edge over itscompetitors with bold styling and class-leading fuel economy.”
The Aurion’s 3.- litre all-alloy quad cam V6 engine produces 200kW at 6,200rpm
and torque of 336Nm at 4,700pm. Fuel economy across the Aurion range has reduced to 9.3L/100km (ADR81/02 combined cycle) – an improvement of six percent over the
outgoing model. CO2 emissions are just 215g/km.
“This 2012 Aurion has the lowest fuel consumption and emissions of any 3.5-litre
V6 in its class, without sacrificing performance. This is a 200kW performance
sedan with 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.1 seconds,” said Steve Prangnell.
All models are well specified, with seven airbags (including a driver’s knee airbag
for the first time), seatbelt warning for all five seats, vehicle stability control
(VSC) and traction control (TRC).
“Aurion has all of the safety features that the market requires, plus a few extras such as the driver’s knee airbag. We’re confident of achieving a 5-star result when Ancap test results are released later this month,” Steve added.
All models have a high specification level, with many enhancements over the outgoing model. The AT-X adds dual zone climate controlled air conditioning, driver’s knee airbag, alloy spare wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seats and a comprehensive multi-information display.
The AT-X’s new audio system has a 6.1 inch touch screen with USB input and iPod connectivity, plus a reversing camera.
The Touring model builds on the AT-X specification with additional premium specifications: 17 inch alloy wheels, leather seats and trims, a premium four spoke steering wheel, rear wing spoiler, sports mesh grille and front fog lights.
The new Aurion Sportivo SX6 has additional sports features over the AT-X. Outside there are 17 inch sport alloy wheels, sports mesh grille, front and rear spoilers, side skirts, sports diffuser and front fog lights.
Inside it has a quick response paddle shift system for the transmission, sports pedals, premium three spoke steering wheel, sports front seats, power front passenger’s seat
adjustment, sports Optitron meters and a smart key system.
A range of Toyota Genuine and “T Custom” accessories, including a 1,600kg capable towbar, are available to customise the Aurion.
Prices: AT-X $49,690, Touring $52,090, Sportivo SX6 $51,790.
