Mitsubishi’s mid-grade Triton GLX-R grade has proven to be a surprisingly popular option for the multi-vehicle or fleet user. The 2WD GLX-R  is an extremely capable and easy to operate vehicle, well suited to open road or close city environments, while the dependable 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo diesel – with its 135kW of power and more critical 437Nm of torque – makes easy work of the occasional off-road excursion.

Like its four-pawed cousin, the 2WD GLX-R  shares Triton’s new look, the significant improvements in handling and upgraded specification levels, all have which have contributed to the massive gains Mitsubishi has seen in terms of sales and registrations from the new Triton’s launch.

Some would consider the improved appearance to be Triton’s most significant feature, others will be impressed with the flexibility and efficiency of the 135kW and 437Nm of torque from the 2.4 turbodiesel coupled to the new six-speed automatic gearbox.

Still more may be taken with the enhancements Mitsubishi made to the front suspension, which has resulted in excellent overall handling. For others, the level of equipment is the main selling point.

With all these factors being stand out elements contributing to the whole that is Triton, it’s no wonder the long serving nameplate is proving so popular.

The GLX-R features a 7-inch touchscreen Smartphone Link display incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible audio systems with voice command and steering wheel remote controls. Like all Tritons, it has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating listing among its equipment, active traction control, seven airbags, reversing camera, Trailer Stability Assist, Smart Brake and Smart Brake Assist.

As standard, the GLX-R Triton comes with 18-inch alloys, a 3000kg towing capacity, rear sports suspension for strength and coil sprung front for control.
