We video review the 2021 Hyundai Staria Load.
Hyundai Staria – an astral jump for van-kind. Hyundai has opened a portal to the next century and provided a van to take you through to it. Introducing the all-new Staria Load, the van for tomorrow, today.
The Staria Load has refined the commercial vehicle, basing it on the 5-star ANCAP rated chassis of the Santa Fe SUV but other than that, the new van is a far cry from Hyundai vehicles we know now. A radical rethink in the front-end design gives the Staria Load its distinctively futuristic look, which is carried down the flanks with a space shuttle type profile brought about through a clever reimagining of the cabin and side windows to the pixilated taillights at the rear giving the Staria Load a cohesive and convention challenging appearance.
Inside, the Staria Load bucks the trend of a cubic cargo area, trending back to a familiarly long shape which at 4935 litres, is considerably more cavernous than its predecessor. The cargo area also demonstrates Hyundai’s focus on refinement, with quality fittings and fixtures not usually found outside of passenger vehicles. And the same can be said of the safety features inherent in the Staria Load, a commercial vehicle equipped with Hyundai’s Smartsense safety suite, again, as found in the brand’s 5-star safety rated passenger vehicles.
The cockpit though, is where the Staria Load really shines. This is a van for two people as determined by the immense amount of legroom for the passenger, the ingenious offset twin screen displays and the attention to detail which extends even into areas where ‘they didn’t have to, but it looks fantastic because they did,” makes the Staria Load’s front office a revolution in cabin design.
Power comes from Hyundai’s tried and true 2.2 CRDI turbo diesel, which is a leading light in the SUVs bearing the badge. In the Staria Load, this engine is phenomenally quiet, incredibly refined and athletically responsive – it is a remarkable performer. The Staria Load has massive buyer potential. As a blue-collar working van, it outshines the competition by virtue of its refinement and sophistication. The future of vans is here – and it’s delivered by Hyundai.
