Leapmotor B10 Secures 5-Star ANCAP, OTA enhancements, Dealer network expands

News

Leapmotor is building serious momentum in New Zealand, announcing a trio of major developments for its B10 small electric SUV — spanning safety, software innovation and nationwide accessibility.

At the forefront is confirmation that the Leapmotor B10 has achieved a coveted 5-star safetyrating from ANCAP, applying to both Life and Design variants. Under ANCAP’s rigorous 2023–2025 protocols, the B10 delivered standout results across Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection and Safety Assist. Its 95 percent Child Occupant Protection score equals the highest result recorded under the current criteria. The achievement complements the model’s existing 5-star assessment from Euro NCAP, reinforcing its global safety credentials.

Alongside its top-tier crash performance, the B10 continues to evolve through over-the-air (OTA) software updates. The latest enhancements strengthen regenerative energy recovery, introduce seamless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and significantly expand steering wheel customisation with programmable shortcut buttons and multi-function combinations.

User experience improvements include a quicker infotainment start-up sequence and optimisation of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Centring Control (LCC), enhancing efficiency and overall driving refinement.

Leapmotor’s growth extends beyond the product itself. Dealer representation has expanded to seven locations nationwide, increasing accessibility for Kiwi buyers. The brand is now available through Armstrong’s dealerships in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, as well as Takanini Auto Group, Auckland Auto Group (Albany), Waikato Auto Group (Hamilton) and
Tauranga Motor Group.

“Leapmotor has listened to customer feedback and delivered meaningful improvements across multiple areas, making a compelling package even stronger,” said Brian Carr, General Manager – Sales, Auto Distributors New Zealand.

“The 5-star ANCAP result is further validation of the B10’s credentials, and the expanded dealer network ensures more New Zealanders can experience the brand first-hand.

“In addition to the B10 and C10, customers can also explore the impressive C10 AWD — one of the quickest family-oriented EVs available, capable of a 0–100km/h sprint in just four seconds. The technology, design execution and value proposition across the range are genuinely outstanding.”
