Inchcape has announced that it will cease its distribution of the KGM brand in New Zealand following a joint decision with its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner, KGM.
The decision comes as part of Inchcape's ongoing portfolio management strategy, which involves regularly evaluating partnerships to ensure alignment with the company's strategic growth objectives.The move reflects the company's commitment to maintaining a competitive and well-curated brand portfolio in the New Zealand market.
The distributor has pledged to work collaboratively with KGM to facilitate a seamless transition, prioritizing support for customers, dealers, and partners throughout the process.A final date for the cessation of the distribution agreement will be confirmed following the transition period.
Despite ending the KGM partnership, Inchcape remains firmly committed to the New Zealand automotive market.The company's existing brand portfolio is designed to serve diverse consumer needs across multiple vehicle categories, including passenger cars, sports utility vehicles, utes, and vans, with options ranging from traditional internal combustion engines to hybrid and electric powertrains.
Customers are assured that all existing orders for KGM vehicles will be honored and delivered as scheduled.Additionally, KGM's existing warranty and service benefits—including the five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, Assured Service Pricing, and Pre-Paid Service Plans—will remain unchanged.
KGM have confirmed the KGM brand will continue in New Zealand and they will provide updates on their local distribution plans .
