The multi-million-dollar redevelopment marks the next chapter for a Christchurch business with roots stretching back to 1918.
Archibalds has officially opened its redeveloped Range Rover Defender retailer showroom in Christchurch at 38 Tuam Street, following an 11-month build and a multi-million-dollar investment in the site.
The extended showroom adds 388 square metres and space for seven display vehicles. It brings sales, service, parts and accessories together under one roof. Spaces include a configuration studio, a private client consultation room and lounge, a dedicated handover bay, multiple client lounges, an accessories wall and a barista bar.
The build was delivered by a large team of consultants and subcontractors, led by engineer and architect Engenium and head contractor Hanham & Philp. The opening also brings new roles to the business, with a new host, technician and salesperson taking the Range Rover Defender at Archibalds team to 27.
For customers across the wider region, Archibalds continues to invest in regional service clinics. It also offers accommodation at five-star Christchurch boutique hotel The George for clients travelling to Christchurch for servicing.
Mark Milligan, General Manager, Archibalds, said: "Archibalds has been part of the Jaguar Land Rover story for decades, and this is our most significant investment in that relationship yet. We've built a space around the way our clients want to experience Range Rover, Defender and Discovery today, from configuring their vehicle to the moment they take the keys.
"It's a big step towards our ambition of being the South Island's leading premium vehicle destination, and we're proud to open the doors."
The showroom was officially opened with an evening event for around 80 guests, including members of the JLR Owners Club and senior JLR leadership on 24 September.
On display was the limited-edition Defender Trophy Edition. Inspired by the legendary off-road challenges of the past, the model perfectly reflected the transformation of Range Rover Defender at Archibalds, mirroring the new showroom's shift toward modern luxury, capability, and refinement.
