Following discussions between BMW Group NZ Ltd and Jeff Gray Ltd, a Colonial Motor Company subsidiary, the decision has been made not to renew the dealer franchise agreement, which included the BMW and Mini franchises in Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North, and Hastings.
As a result, BMW has established two key relationships to take over these important regions and is delighted to announce new partnerships with the Winger Motor Group and Mathew Barr.
Responsible for Hastings, Manawatu and Wellington, the Winger Motor Group is widely known for its established success in the industry. The company is set to take over these regions for BMW and Mini in December.
“The Winger Motor Group has desired the opportunity to have a premium German manufacturer as part of its brand portfolio,” said BMW Group NZ MD, Florian Renndorfer.
“They are very much looking forward to the opportunities ahead with BMW and Mini in these regions, and we feel they are a great fit.”
For the Christchurch region, Mathew Barr, currently owner and dealer principal for Christchurch Mitsubishi, has been appointed to take over BMW and Mini from December.
“Mathew is a highly motivated local investor with vast dealership and business experience centred around a strong focus on customer satisfaction. We are very much looking forward to working together.”
BMW Group NZ says it wishes to thank Jeff Gray Ltd for their contribution, and welcomes the Winger Motor Group and Mathew Barr to the dealership portfolio.
