Brake, the road safety charity, is running a free webinar for fleet and road safety professionals on the importance of hazard perception.
Tackling hazard awareness and perception among fleet drivers will explore hazard perception among drivers, the challenges for fleet managers, and best practice methodologies for addressing the issue. The webinar takes place on Tuesday 14 March 2017 and attendance is free.
The ability to see hazards, perceive them as hazards and react appropriately in time is key to safe fleet driving. Yet transport psychologists have shown that drivers can easily miss hazards due to a variety of factors. Academic and practitioner speakers will discuss the challenges this presents to managers, and methods for assessing hazard perceptiveness.
Professionals can register to attend by booking online, or emailing brakecharity@gmail.com.
The webinar will be delivered by Brake Professional, Brake’s low-cost membership service for professionals working in the field of fleet safety. Brake Professional shares training, tools, and guidance on global fleet safety best practice with its members, as well as networking and development opportunities. Find out more.
Caroline Perry, Brake’s NZ director, said: “Hazard awareness and perception is a key skill for any driver, but there are lots of factors that affect our ability to effectively assess hazards. At this webinar, leading academics will explore the importance of hazard perception and provide methods and real-world examples for fleets to address this issue and implement measures to tackle it in their organisation. I encourage anyone involved in managing at-work drivers to attend.”
