Here at VCM what we like to offer our clients is a “One Stop Shop” with all the accessories you may require.  Listed below of some of the more common items requested.

We also suggest you consider the accessories you require prior to choosing your vehicle if possible so we can make sure your needs can be accommodated efficiently and cost effectively.

NUDGE BARS/BULLBARS/GOAL POSTS/ TOWBARS

Check what is standardly available off the shelf for your vehicle, for instance is there an air bag compatible nudge bar for your vehicle and if necessary can it accommodate a goal post that will also meet these requirements.

Tow bars – what towing capacity do you require and what is the vehicle capable of towing.

FLASHING LIGHTS/SPOT LIGHTS

There are many different flashing lights available, LED, standard rotating lights and bar lights, a consideration when choosing a light for your application is how long will this be left on and what class of light is required as some sites require a “Class One” light. What position should they be mounted to gain the most benefit, can it be seen from behind or at the front. With spot lights there are spot or flood pattern lights and LED options to reduce battery draw.

BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEMS

Dual batteries either deep cycle or standard. This is determined by the type of use you require, mostly required when you have an inverter fitted as the capacity of the battery in most vehicles is not designed for high use accessories. Consideration needs to be given to vehicle choice if this type of system is required as some alternators are designed to switch off once the vehicle battery is fully charged so may not charge an extra battery.

INVERTERS

Depending on what your requirements are there are modified sine or pure sine inverters. The pure sine is designed to give a more consistent output of power compared to the modified sine type. When you are running electronic equipment pure sine is usually more appropriate. Common inverters provide between 600 and 2000 watts, but you can get them as high as 4000 watts although this is usually for quite specialised applications. Positioning of an Inverter is also a consideration so that it is efficient to use.

BULKHEADS (Solid)

Designed to separate the van cargo area from the drivers compartment which helps prevent fumes from petrol or other chemicals. The bonus with a solid bulkhead is the air conditioning works very efficiently as it only has to cool and heat the drivers compartment.

ROOF RACKS

Check what is available for your vehicle and what the costs are, some vehicles require a more expensive system than others. For example, a vehicle that has a gutter is probably the most cost effective while others may need to have a track mount, pad mount or ditch mount. Check with utes that a roof rack system can be fitted that will allow for the load you carry in both length and weight and can be made level when more than two bars are required.

VENTILATION

What type of ventilation do you require; rotary, solar or passive. These are usually required if the vehicle has fuel or chemicals in the back that need to be vented out.

REVERSING CAMERA / SENSORS

While a lot of vehicles do have a reversing camera as a standard item some do not, a reversing sensor which has an audible noise to the surrounding people and other vehicles is a good safety precaution.

ALARMS

Various alarms are available, while some vehicles have factory fitted alarms with utes and vans in particular it can be an advantage to fit a sensor in the rear cargo area so that if the window is broken and no door is opened the alarm will still activate. In some applications we have fitted air horns along with the alarm so that when the alarm is activated the air horns also sound. How often do we ignore a car alarm noise as we hear them so often. The air horn makes quite a loud and different sound as a deterrent.

GPS SYSTEM 

It is an ideal time to have a GPS or other tracking fitted while the vehicle has all the other accessories being installed so that when the vehicle goes to the road it is ready to go.

SIGNWRITING
This is the perfect opportunity for the signwriting to be applied. Most signwriters will accommodate this. Just one less thing to do once you get your vehicle.

TINTING

Tinting your vehicle can keep the it a bit cooler and obscure people from being able to see what is in the vehicle. Security tint is also available, this is clear and designed to hold the glass together so if it is broken it still doesn’t give access to the vehicle. This can have the tint applied over the top if required.
