We test out the new Toyota Camry ZR Hybrid

Road Report

The 2025 Toyota Camry represents a significant achievement for a model that has long been a staple in the automotive industry. Now entering its ninth generation, the Camry showcases a sophisticated new design and an array of advanced  interior features, bringing it closer to the luxury and performance standards typically associated with its Lexus counterparts.

At first glance, the 2025 Toyota Camry demands attention with design elements inspired by the Lexus line, particularly  reminiscent of the Lexus ES. The new “hammerhead” grille departs from traditional styles, presenting a bold yet refined front  that seamlessly integrates aerodynamics with aesthetics. The slim dual headlights and sleek daytime running lights enhance  the vehicle’s elongated silhouette, adding to its striking presence.

The Camry maintains classic sedan proportions, measuring 4.92 metres in length and 1.45 metres in height, ensuring  familiarity while introducing flair that distinguishes it on the road. Inside the 2025 Camry, especially with the top-of- the-line  ZR model, occupants are enveloped in comfort and sophistication. The interior features faux leather seats that are both  heated and ventilated, providing optimal comfort in any climate.

Central to the dashboard is Toyota’s latest infotainment system, encased in a glossy black panel – a design choice that,  while elegant, does attract fingerprints. This system includes essential features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a  premium JBL audio system, meeting the needs of tech- savvy users and audiophiles alike. The intuitively designed digital  instrument cluster provides real-time data on efficiency, energy flow, and various driving modes.

Beneath the hood, the 2025 Toyota Camry boasts the most powerful powertrain in its history. The ZR model features a 2.5- litre petrol engine combined with Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system, delivering 170 kW of combined power and achieving an impressive fuel efficiency of approximately 4.5L/100km. This harmonious blend of performance and economy makes the  Camry an attractive option for long-distance drivers seeking reliability without compromising power.

The driving experience is further enhanced by a smooth e-CVT and front-wheel drive setup, offering a balanced ride. The  Camry’s handling on both city streets and highways remains confident and composed.

Toyota’s Safety Sense suite in the 2025 Camry is comprehensive, featuring adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning,  and a 360-degree camera system. The car also incorporates transparent vehicle technology, providing drivers with a view of  what lies beneath the vehicle – an innovative feature that enhances safety.

The ninth-generation Camry adeptly serves both family and executive functions. Its sophisticated design and spacious interior provide a luxurious ride, ideal for daily commuting or weekend getaways. The sedan’s substantial 587L trunk is highly  practical, accommodating everything from golf clubs to road trip luggage with ease.

This latest iteration of the Camry  establishes itself as more than just a reliable vehicle; it is now a definitive lifestyle choice for those seeking comfort,  efficiency, and elegance. Whether as a daily driver or an executive transport, the Camry meets diverse needs in today’s automotive landscape.
