Toyota New Zealand has announced pricing for the eagerly anticipated all-new Toyota C-HR, a new addition to the range of electrified passenger vehicles available in New Zealand.
In keeping with Toyota’s determination to reduce tailpipe carbon emissions from its portfolio by 46% by 2030, the new C-HR is only available in hybrid powertrains.
The new C-HR also features other innovations and measures to help reduce its carbon footprint. Compared to its predecessor, the new generation C-HR has double the content of recycled plastics - used in more than 100 different parts
Toyota is confident the 2024 model CH-R is going to be a serious challenger up against its rivals, thanks to its sophisticated, European-inspired design, which extends from the avant-garde exterior to the refined interior.
Toyota C-HR first broke the mould of SUV design with its slanting rear and aggressive face in 2017 and the new version is marginally shorter and wider than the current model giving it a striking, sporty and planted stance on the road, enhanced by its coupe-like profile, short overhangs and 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The CH-R embraces a new iteration of Toyota Safety Sense. The updated system adds motorcycle detection to the pre-collision system as well as a driver monitor camera. Toyota Teammate (Advanced Park), Panoramic View Monitor, and Parking Support Brake with Rear-Cross Traffic Auto Braking are included across all grades. A blind spot monitor with Safe Exit assist is also added as an active safety feature.
As to engine performance, the 1.8-litre powertrain puts out 103kW combined which is about 15 per cent more power than the current model. The hybrid is Toyota’s 5th generation system running a Lithium-Ion battery allowing a tow rating of 725kg on a braked or unbraked trailer.
There are 13 colourways across the range of four CH-R models: 7 monotone options for the GX, GXL and Limited models and four two-tone options for the Limited. The fire-breathing GR Sport model with its 2-litre, 145kW engine will have four monotone options and four two-tone options.
Current pricing is available for the introductory GX and GXL models from $45,990 and $49,990 respectively.
