Lexus Unveils ALL-NEW TZ Battery Electric SUV

New models

Lexus has unveiled the all-new TZ, a fully electric three-row SUV designed around Lexus’ signature driving experience with a spacious, lounge-like cabin focused on comfort, quietness and time spent together.

The TZ is Lexus’ first three-row battery electric SUV and has been developed on a dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform, delivering the smoothness, refinement and dynamic performance expected of a Lexus, while introducing a new level of comfort and spaciousness for the luxury SUV segment.

Andrew Davis, Vice President of Lexus New Zealand, recently experienced the TZ in Shimoyama, Japan ahead of the global reveal.

“The TZ really redefines what a luxury SUV can feel like,” says Davis.

“What stood out immediately was just how smooth and refined it felt. Because it’s built on a dedicated BEV platform, the weight distribution and low centre of gravity make it feel incredibly stable and composed on the road.”

“It really changes the way passengers experience long-distance SUV travel. Everything feels smoother, more natural and more calming, while the cabin itself feels less like a traditional SUV and more like a modern living space.”

Developed under the concept of “Driving Lounge”, the TZ has been designed to prioritise people and shared experiences, with a spacious interior that encourages relaxation and connection between passengers. A newly developed platform, slim panoramic roof and Lexus’ top-level quietness combine to create an open and calming cabin environment.

Davis says the TZ represents another important step in Lexus’ long-term electrification strategy.

“Our Lexus multi-powertrain approach remains important because customers are all on different journeys. The TZ sits at the fully electric end of that strategy and shows what’s possible when Lexus fully leverages the benefits of a dedicated BEV platform.”

“This doesn’t feel like a traditional SUV. The comfort, refinement and technology make it feel more like a modern living space on wheels.”

The all-new TZ introduces a range of new Lexus technologies and innovations, combining advanced electrification, refined driving dynamics and the comfort expected from a Lexus flagship SUV.

Designed to balance strong SUV styling with efficiency and driving range, the TZ has been engineered to deliver both performance and refinement, while maintaining the quietness and smoothness expected from a Lexus BEV.

Inside, sustainable materials including forged bamboo and recycled aluminium have been incorporated throughout the vehicle as part of Lexus’ broader focus on sustainable craftsmanship and circular vehicle development.

More information and specification details will be released closer to the local launch in early 2027.
