No, it’s real – the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage

New models

Mitsubishi has thrown its triple diamond studded hat into the super small car ring for 2020 with the release of the revised Mirage.

Following on from the Triton, the ASX and the Pajero Sport, the Mirage has adopted the dynamic shield design up front to cement it into the Mitsubishi family and to give it a bolder, in-your-face appearance which should encourage buyers to take the littlest Mitsi more seriously.

Behind the dynamic shield is not just the Mirage we’re used to.

For 2020, the Mirage is now a much-improved proposition with Mitsubishi integrating new features which are something of a surprise for a car in this segment, but which entitle the Mirage to its five-star ANCAP safety rating.

While the outgoing Mirage incorporated four-wheel ABS, anti-skid control and electronic brakeforce distribution, Smart Brake and brake assist, active traction control and hill start assist, the 2020 update includes more critically, forward collision mitigation system, lane departure warning and a reversing camera integrated into the seven-inch touchscreen.

That touchscreen by the way is one of Mitsubishi’s Smartphone Link Display Audio screens which is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible.

And if it’s got that, it’s got Bluetooth phone capability, with button controls for the audio system and cruise control on the steering wheel, as well as voice activation control.

All of which – and the $21,990 price tag – makes the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, petrol-powered Mitsubishi Mirage for 2020 a significant consideration as a fleet pool car.
