Still on the subject of car sales, I get a newsletter feed from a website Focus2move.com, and it’s just released its top 10 global car sales ranking for August.
Toyota heads the field with sales of 653,462 cars, for a 10 percent share of the global market, with Volkswagen second on 497,000, for 7.6 percent, and Ford third with 453,332.
Chevrolet lost share in August, but retained its fourth place ranking on 398,368 sales, with Hyundai fifth on 385,638, moving up from last year’s ranking for the same month.
Nissan was sixth (357,963), Honda seventh (353,653) and Kia eighth (229,308).
A surprising ninth was Chinese company Wuling, which entered the top 10 with its sales of 134,509, and another newcomer to the top 10 was Mercedes, tenth with 129,924.
Wuling and Mercedes displaced Renault and Peugeot to take their top 10 rankings.
